Elric is one of the most well-known and inspirational characters in the sword and sorcery genre, and I could write reams and reams about him, but I'll try to keep this as brief as possible. First, in case for some reason you didn't know this, Elric is the creation of prolific fantasy writer Michael Moorcock, and appears in a series of novels.
The original series of six is:
Elric of Melnibone
Sailor on the Seas of Fate
Weird of the White Wolf
The Vanishing Tower
Bane of the Black Sword
Stormbringer
Moorcock, after finishing the series, wrote another book or three with Elric in them, but, despite the fact that chronologically they would go somewhere before Stormbringer (for reasons obvious to anyone who's read Stormbringer), I do not consider them part of that series because they were written at a later time in Moorcock's life, after he had become famous and no longer had to write to make money and after he had had a chance to grow up and become a mature writer, and therefore, while dealing with the same subject matter, they approach it from an entirely different angle, and wouldn't necessarily interest fans of the original series.
A note on playing Elric with the .cch file included: do not unequip Stormbringer. You shouldn't be able to (it's cursed - which makes sense, and in the books Elric could never bring himself to throw it away), but you could if you used a Remove Curse spell. Don't do this. Since so many of Elric's abilities are dependent on the sword I just wired them directly into the character (since each item can only grant one ability); unequiping the sword should leave him with a Strength of 5 and take away his regeneration, level draining and fear aura - but it won't.
Also, the Ring of Kings ("ruby ring" in the game) functions as the spell Monster Summoning, with nigh-unlimited use. I thought this made sense, considering he mainly used it to exert his authority over summoned creatures, and that most of the magic he did in the books was summoning things (so therefore I wanted him to be able to summon a lot).
